Marianne, I have no quarrel whatsoever with any person that enjoys the love of God in the least, more power to them. Such a relationship is really a very personal relationship just between them and God, no other could ever come between that and should never try to.
So you might say that my concern, which may become a quarrel only when others insist that I am wrong in saying that God is "generic", is for truth, highest Truth.
It is those that claim their own "title" for God based upon their own creed and dogma, that insist that only they have access to such a God and that others can and/or will, go to hell, that I have a problem with.
And I have not the slightest problem with "them" going exactly where, when and/or how, to "their" heaven.
But what I do have a problem with is their exclusionist tendencies to set themselves up as 'authorities' on just who else will experience just what ... their promoting their view as the "one and only" gospel truth and path to God ... even the naming of "that" God (as far too many do) comparable to "their" view of Jesus Christ ... the "person" who was here to show and tell all others what he was aware of about the potential relationship to "his" God that he called Father or Abba as a referential term for people to relate to according to something they were familiar with, the relationship between a parent and a loved child.
I believe I have already stated some of what I think about the "truth" of it all, and that truth is subjective and personal. I believe that you said it was objective and absolute, or something to that effect. Truth to me is more philosophical and it seems to me that it might be more "religious" for you ... I would be open to discussing with you just what truth is and why one thinks so ... but as Magi has said, it would do little good for either of us to attempt to change our two minds on what we think our religion is, as compared to spirituality ... it is that great difference that I try to bring up because it is often the religion that swears by their "brand" name while it is spirituality that is "generic", as is God I would say.
So as I have been trying to say, my argument is such, only because of other people not yet committed to a particular "brand", should have the freedom to at least first try the generic God who does not put commitments back upon them, because the generic God ALLOWS people to still be free ... the generic IS the Truth that sets one Free ! and I hate (really only dislike) for people to become "trapped" into particular faiths that end up stunting their spiritual growth to the limits of such creed and dogma ... as does way too often happen.
The "light" of truth that one may recieve from the generic God has no limits as does that of religions ... I always wish as much light as the person may be able to handle be used by them.
May the Light of Truth shine on all !!!
